So Far

Things has been hectic over here, to say the least. In my mind it’s still October, I’m preparing my Halloween costume. I think a little recap of my escapades will help bring me up to speed. Ready? Go!

I purchased a 24mm 1.8! Hello wider perspectives:

Chinese New Year was lit. And so is my 5ft Octabox:

My perfect little niece turned 2 in November. She had the time of her life at her birthday party:

After almost 8 years I decided to partake in a play although I “quit” acting a few years ago. Never say never, right?

Taylor and I had the brilliant idea of carving a pumpkin for aesthetic purposes. Very messy, ridiculous idea. Might definitely try again :).

My cousin Chantel turned 30! She went off during this shoot:

(I threw this in here because check out the eyeliner. Just call me Bat Woman with this sharp a** wing.)

And last, but certainly not least: I had the pleasure of shooting Courtney Carter again. She launched a phenomenal body butter line, Nude Coco. It’s in a stick, which is perfect for travel. Just saying.

There you have it: 5 months of content. Byeeeeeee!

Atlanta Selfie Museum!

We didn’t have to go off like this, but we did! My girl Taylor and I took over the Atlanta Selfie Museum, and shut it down. Enjoyyyyy.

These colors were everything. I was skeptical at first, but Lightroom revealed what was really good.

It was $27.00 each for almost 25 selfie rooms. Take my money.

Ugh, the moody ones are my fave, of course.

That’s it! ‘Til next time, lovelies!

You Only Turn 5 Once.

As we all know, IG crashed in a huge way this past week. We couldn’t do anything on some major social media platforms for almost 24 hours, and it got me thinking: It’s time to capitalize on this blog! When FB, IG, Twitter, etc. go down, the people can come here.  I talked about this in my last post, but the universe is telling me that it has to start happening right meow.

Anyway, I give you Naomi’s 5th Birthday! This is her room at her G-Ma’s house, not a studio, by the way!

These photos are giving Olan Mills, circa 1995 🤣.

I love this serious photo of Naomi–she really is an introspective kid.

LOL Dolls, the new Bratz!

How lovely that I’ve been able to photography Naomi as she gets older 🥺! Always an honor!

Check In.

I found myself thinking about the first time I started this blog. I was in undergrad, reading Blog, Inc. and Share Your Work! It was the early 2010s, before IG was the powerhouse it is now, before ads were littering my FB feed.

I remember logging onto FB every day to see what my “friends” were up to, to stay up on the trends, to let my mind wander during class. It’s strange to think that people are ready to throw these major platforms away in 2021, and I see that happening somewhere in the near future.

I’ve had this blog for awhile, but I’ve never capitalized on it. This is the only place online that I can manage myself without “violating community guidelines.” I think I’m going to start posting here first, then throwing my content onto these social platforms. My captions can be super long, I can share a random poem, I can just post a picture. Those that want to come along for the ride can tune in whenever they’d like.

This is my piece of real estate on the web, but there are no bounds. Me gusta.

I have been locked out of my blog for the past 4 weeks, and I’m pissed because I had something to actually post 🥴.

Anyway, allow me to make your day with Keenan Ellis 🖤. I’ve been taking pictures of him since high school, so it’s nice to see how much we’ve evolved since then. Maybe I’ll find those photos and post them as a throwback!

2021

It’s 2021. We survived, my darlings.

Here’s a photo montage of my face, since I photograph it very often 🤣:

Existential Dread…

…but make it fashion.

To be honest, I took this photo to see if I could make it moody enough using LUTs. I think I’ve succeeded 🙃. Next step? Making every picture in the set look exactly like this (post culling).

Shed ATL

Everyone stop what you’re doing and get into this leaf aesthetic 😛🌿:

Here’s the gist: Rachel is planting things and then selling them out of this shed. End gist.

I had to ask why Rachel was drilling holes in the bottom of these pots–apparently it allows the water to drain so the roots don’t have “wet feet.” #themoreyouknow

(Potentially one of my favorite photos that I’ve ever taken, ever ⬆️.)

(Okay, but this curly plant 😍. I don’t know if it’s apparent yet, but I’m heavily partial to curly things.) I’m tempted to post more, but I must restrain myself. Thanks for choosing me to capture your brand, Rachel! It’s adorableee.

Great is Thy Faithfulness

They say it takes a village to raise a child. Garnelle, an elder cousin on my father’s side, was a major part of my village. It saddens me to say that it has been 2 weeks since her passing. I can only hope that a portion of her exuberance and camaraderie will live on through me.

Things I never want to forget:

  • Word searches to pass the time.
  • Soap operas: The Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light
  • Divorce Court and Judge Mathis
  • That small McDonald’s coffee
  • Her outlook on life, 🙃.

‘Til we meet again, Garnelle. You are sorely missed… 🕊.
